Anna Kozlov had only been a newlywed for three days when she bid her husband Boris adieu. He was off to fight in the Red Army and she would await his return—or so they thought. During Boris’s time away from home, Stalin exiled Anna and her family to Siberia, and Anna couldn’t even leave word to her husband.

Boris spent years looking for her. The two shared a hometown, but Anna was barred from visiting it, so the two completely lost contact. Anna was so distraught that she seriously contemplated suicide. Her mother then destroyed all mementos of Boris and Anna’s life together, including wedding photographs and letters.

She eventually remarried. Boris, unbeknownst to her, did the same. Years passed, and both lost their spouses. And then, 60 years after Boris and Anna had said “I do,” something miraculous happened. Anna at last managed to visit their shared hometown of Borovlyanka when she saw an elderly man in the distance.

It was Boris. He’d come to the village to pay his respects at his parents’ burial site, and when he noticed Anna, he ran up to her. In true fairytale fashion, they had a second wedding and lived happily ever after.

Ladder of Love: A Love Story That Will Make You Speechless

3. A Man Carves A 6,000 Stair Path In Mountain For His Wife

Do you still remember the tale of a 70-year-old Chinese man who hand-carved more than 6,000 stairs up a mountain for his 80-year-old wife? Yes, this is a weird love story that has come out of China and managed to touch the world. It is a story of a man and an older woman who ran off to live and love each other in peace for over half a century.

Unfortunately, the love story ended just a few days ago after the death of the heroine. Let’s just recall the tale again which won the award for China’s greatest love story of 2006. The story began half a century ago when a 19 years-old boy Liu Guojiang fell in love with a 29-year-old widowed mother named Xu Chaoqing.

In a twist worthy of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, friends and relatives criticized the relationship because of the age difference and the fact that Xu already had children. Also, at the time, it was unacceptable and immoral for a young man to love an older woman.

To avoid market gossip and the scorn of their communities, the couple decided to elope and lived in a cave in Jiangjin County in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality. In the beginning, they had nothing, no electricity or even food.

Why Does True Love Feel No Dearth of Essential Needs

They had to eat grass and roots they found in the mountain, and Liu made a kerosene lamp that they used to lighten up their lives. Life was too harsh and Xu felt that she had tied Liu down and repeatedly asked him, “Are you regretful?” Liu always replied, “As long as we are industrious, life will improve.”

Starting the second year of living in the mountain, Liu began, and continue for over 50 years, to hand carve the steps so that his wife could get down the mountain easily. A half-century later in 2001, a group of adventures was exploring the forest, they surprisingly found the elderly couple and the over 6,000 stairs of hand-carved ladder.

“My parents loved each other so much, they have lived in seclusion for more than 50 years and never been apart a single day.” Liu MingSheng, one of their seven children said, “He hand-carved more than 6,000 steps over the years for my mother’s convenience, although she doesn’t go down the mountain that much.”

A Love Story That Is Truly Remarkable In Every Way

The couple had lived in peace for over 50 years until the last day of this glorious partnership. Liu, who was 72 years old, returned from his daily farm work and collapsed. Xu sat and prayed with her husband as he passed away in her arms. So in love with Xu, was Liu, that no one was able to release the grip he had on his wife’s hand even after he had passed away.

“You promised me you’ll take care of me, you’ll always be with me until the day I died, now you left before me, how am I going to live without you?” … Xu spent days softly repeating this sentence and touching her husband’s black coffin with tears rolling down her cheeks.

In 2006, Their story came atop a list of China’s top ten love stories organized by the Chinese Women Weekly, which collected tales from around the country since July 2006. Liu and his wife were not present at the award ceremony due to their age, but their son, Liu Mingsheng, came with a kerosene lamp that his father had made from an ink bottle.

“It’s a ladder of love.” Dai Rong, a local official of Jiangjin County, said, “We’re glad to see the story of two senior citizens won and the local government is attempting to supply electricity to the cave which has been the couple’s home for the last 50 years.” The government has also decided to preserve the “love ladder” and the place they lived as a museum, so this love story can live forever.

A Beautiful Love Story That Will Make Your Day Beautiful

4. How True Love Finds Its Strength In Adverse Situations

Around two decades ago, there was this young guy who belonged to a middle-class Muslim family. After he completed school, his parents found a match for him in their own community. They met and got engaged. The marriage was fixed three years post-engagement so that the boy and girl could complete their education. A love story started. Love letters were exchanged, phone calls made, secret dates taking place, etc.

Everything was going just fine. One day, the boy was going to attend one of his friend’s wedding functions in the same city where the girl lived. They had planned a meeting for the next day. The boy and his friends were on a bike, enjoying the Barat when suddenly a truck at very high speed came from the front.

Though the bikes escaped the truck, two bikes just crashed with each other and they met with an accident. The boy and one of his friends got injured. They were immediately shifted to the nearest hospital. There were not many external injuries to the boy. But his left hand was numb. It didn’t function.

He was shifted to AIIMS Delhi for further treatment where doctors suggested a major operation but the operation was unsuccessful. His left arm had stopped functioning since then. When the girl’s family came to know this they called off the engagement. But the girl stood like a rock by the boy.

True Love Is Putting Someone Else Before Yourself

She said she will only marry her fiance or not marry at all. Her mother supported her. Finally, they got married. The man hardly had anything and also his parents were not in a very good financial condition, so he hesitated to ask them. But he kept on trying and after some time he got a job in a Mutual Fund Company. Two years post-marriage the couple was blessed with a baby girl.

Though he was working yet the income was not enough. The man got really worried about the girl’s education and other expenses. Amidst all this one day the Company where he was employed, eloped. He lost his job. This was a major setback for the family. The girl got a lot of taunts from her family.

But she stood by him in all circumstances, adjusted to her new life, and supported her husband. The man also worked really hard, met another accident but fortunately survived it too. After many failed attempts, and many taunts the boy decided to do something on his own. It was then that he started a business of electrical goods.

Always Remember: A True Love Story Never Ends

His family financed him to start the business. He started with whatever little resources he had, worked day in and out, and finally got success in the business. The man managed to establish a flourishing business and is now a man of repute in his city. Though the man lost his arm long yet his wife became a pillar of strength for him at that time.

The man now narrates his story to his children about how he was helpless but he never gave up and how their mother was always there for him. He always says that because of his wife, he never realized he had any sort of disability all this while. He says – “She was, is, and will always be my left arm.”

The couple has three children. Two daughters and a boy. The boy is in college and also helping the father in his business and the youngest girl is in school. They are one little happy family. Wondering what the eldest daughter is doing? She is presenting to you the strongest and most deeply in love couple…

5. There Is Nothing In This World That Could Part True Lovers

One day, a young guy and a young girl fell in love. But the guy came from a poor family. The girl’s parents weren’t too happy. So the young man decided not only to court the girl but to court her parents as well. In time, the parents saw that he was a good man and was worthy of their daughter’s hand. But there was another problem: The man was a soldier. Soon, war broke out and he was sent overseas for a year.

The week before he left, the man knelt on his knee and asked his lady love, “Will you marry me?” She wiped a tear, said yes, and they were engaged. They agreed that when he got back in one year, they would get married. But tragedy struck. A few days after he left, the girl had a major vehicular accident. It was a head-on collision.

When she woke up in the hospital, she saw her father and mother crying. Immediately, she knew there was something wrong. She later found out that she suffered a brain injury. The part of her brain that controlled her facial muscles was damaged. Her once lovely face was now disfigured.

She cried as she saw herself in the mirror. “Yesterday, I was beautiful. Today, I’m a monster.” Her body was also covered with so many ugly wounds. Right there and then, she decided to release her fiancé from their promise. She knew he wouldn’t want her anymore. She would forget about him and never see him again.

He Is Not A Lover Who Does Not Love Forever

For one year, the soldier wrote many letters but she wouldn’t answer. He phoned her many times but she wouldn’t return her calls. But after one year, the mother walked into her room and announced, “He’s back from the war.” The girl shouted, “No! Please don’t tell him about me. Don’t tell him I’m here!” The mother said, “He’s getting married,” and handed her a wedding invitation.

The girl’s heart sank. She knew she still loved him but she had to forget him now. With great sadness, she opened the wedding invitation. And then she saw her name on it! Confused, she asked, “What is this?” That was when the young man entered her room with a bouquet of flowers. He knelt beside her and asked, “Will you marry me?”

The girl covered her face with her hands and said, “I’m ugly!” The man said, “Without your permission, your mother sent me your photos. When I saw your photos, I realized that nothing has changed. You’re still the person I fell in love with. You’re still as beautiful as ever. Because I love you!”

Love Story of A Man Who Walked For His Wife For 6,000 Km

6. A Man Cycled From India To Sweden To Meet His Soulmate

There are many people who did wonders for their lovers, from dying in love to building a world-famous treasure called Tajmahal, from staying in good times to suffering along in rough times, from sharing smiles to only getting parted by the heavenly death. We all must have heard or read about the most famous landmark of love called Tajmahal, but ever heard about a man who traveled on a cycle for thousands of kilometers only to meet his lover?

Yes, a man cycled thousands of miles from Delhi to Sweden to reunite with the love of his life. A man pedaled across continents from Delhi (India) to Gothenburg (Sweden) — all in the name of love and on just two wheels. And, no, this is not a Bollywood story. It’s the true love story of Dr. Pradyumna Kumar Mahanandia from Odisha, India, and Swedish girl Charlotte Von Schedvin.

A love story that proves love is not just something that we see in romantic poems but there is a lot more. In the year 1975, Charlotte Von Schedvin came to India as a teenager to get her portrait painted by P. K. Mahanandia, an aesthetic artist based in Delhi India.

An Amazing Love Story of An Indian Boy & A Swedish Girl

Similar to Bollywood fashion, both fell in love at first sight and soon they got married. But as fate would have it, after a few months, Charlotte had to return to Sweden, but PK (as Mahanandia is popularly known) couldn’t go with her because he was still in his final year of art school. Neither did he have enough money to make the trip.

Rather, he promised her that he would finish his education and save enough money to travel to Sweden by himself. After finishing his studies, PK spent a few years trying to earn enough for the trip, but couldn’t manage.

Soon Pradyumna realized that he might have spoken too early because it was going to take him a whole life to collect enough money to reach Sweden. But PK doesn’t want to break his promise, so he worked out a plan to meet his beloved.

Distance Means So Little When Someone Means So Much

Three years later, in the year 1978, PK simply sold all his belongings, bought a new bicycle, and cycled all the way to Sweden. This grand voyage (and it can be called that) took four months and three weeks, during which his bicycle broke down crossing a lot of hurdles on his way. Those were the days when not many countries required visas for travel.

Upon reaching, he was questioned by Swedish immigration officers who were amazed to see a man who had come from India riding a bicycle. PK told them the reason behind his visit and showed them proof of his marriage to Charlotte. Today, Dr. Pradyumna Kumar and Charlotte Schedvin have been happily married for 43 years.

Now PK is working as an Adviser, in Art and Culture department, under the Swedish government. The government even made a documentary to immortalize their love story. “Distance means so little when someone means so much.” Many people said this, but this man proves it when you love someone distance can’t matter.

A Love Story That Could Have A Better End If They Had Courage

7. Love Story of Two People Who Were In Love With Each Other

This is a real-life love story of two unlucky people. To maintain secrecy we have changed their names. Vishal and Aman were best friends during their college time. Vishal was an introverted guy who didn’t like to mingle much and stayed on his own most of the time. On the contrary, Aman was “The Guy”. He used to boss around the entire college picking fights, solving matters, and being an occasional love guru to his friends.

He had a lot of friends. Vishal had a huge crush on a girl in his college. Let’s call her Namita. She was an intelligent outgoing girl and had a lot of friends. So many guys were crazy for her, just like Vishal. But Vishal was a notch higher than anyone. He used to write about her, the dress in which he saw her that particular day, the time, the place, and literally everything about her.

Just like Vishal had Aman, Namita had a best friend too. Let’s call her Pooja. Pooja was the lady boss of the college. People would think twice before talking to her or stalking her. Vishal approached Aman for help in this matter as he didn’t have the guts to talk to Namita directly.

He asked Aman to talk to Pooja and ask her for help since they both were neighbors. But unfortunately for Vishal, Aman and Pooja were not on good terms. Somehow, Aman gathered courage and went up to Pooja. He told her the entire thing and how Vishal was crazy for her best friend.

She listened to all that stuff and told him that she would convey the message to Namita. What happened next? Well, nothing happened apparently. Vishal never expressed his feelings to Namita and she never talked to him. There’s a twist here that I’ll share at the end of the story.

What Happened When They Met Again After 6 Long Years

6 years forward…, Vishal is a Major in the Indian Army. Aman is working for an MNC in Pune and Namita got married 2 years ago. Vishal and Aman are still best friends. On a fine Sunday morning, Aman received a call from Vishal.

Vishal – Hey! How are you?

Aman – I’m fine. How about you? How did you get time to call today?

Vishal – Nothing much. Was just missing those old days. By the way, are you still in touch with Namita?

Listening to the last question, Aman was a bit puzzled. Why was he asking about Namita after so many years?

Aman – Not really. We’re just Facebook friends. What’s the matter?

Vishal – Nothing. I just asked casually.

After that, they talked for a while about other things. Aman didn’t give it a lot of thought. 3 days after this conversation he received a Facebook message from Namita.

Namita – Hey! How are you?

Aman – I’m fine. How did you miss me after 6 years?

Namita – Nothing. I was just asking about Vishal. Where’s he?

Now, Aman was completely baffled at what was happening. What was forgotten 6 years ago was happening now. He couldn’t understand all of this.

Aman – Yes! He is a commanding officer in Indian Army, Posted in Kashmir.

Namita – Oh! That’s great. What about you?

Aman – I’m in Pune. Working in an MNC?

Namita – I’m coming to Pune next week. Can we meet?

Never Be Afraid To Share Your Feelings With Your Loved Ones

Now, Aman could smell something shady over here. After thinking for a while, he agreed to meet her. Here’s what happened on the day of the meeting.

Namita – I received a message from Vishal on Facebook the other day. We never talked while we were in college. Why did he contact me now?

Aman – How would I know?

Namita – Don’t fool me. You know everything. We were talking for a while and then he asked me if I was married. I told him that I got married 2 years ago. After that, I didn’t receive any message from him.

Now Aman knew there was no way out. After gathering some courage, he told her the entire thing. He told her, how Vishal used to be crazy about her in college days. Listening to all that, Namita couldn’t stop her tears. She literally sat there for 3 hours crying like a baby.

Namita – Why didn’t he propose to me then? I didn’t tell anyone but I too was crazy for him. Even I had a huge crush on him.

Listening to this, Aman was completely speechless. He couldn’t speak a word. He was feeling so sorry for both Namita and Vishal. They both loved each other dearly but couldn’t be together. Because none of them made the first move. None of them were brave enough to confront their feelings. What could have been a beautiful love story with a happy ending is now just a story of two broken hearts.

Why Pooja didn’t tell Namita the truth? Because she too was dearly in love with Vishal and was too jealous to see both of them together. Even today, Vishal doesn’t know that Namita loved her too. Aman chooses to stay silent because he knew that the truth would be too much to handle for Vishal and he would hold this regret for his entire life.

Moral of The Story: Never be afraid to share your feelings with your loved ones. If you do, you might lose them. But if you don’t, you’ll definitely lose them.

Greatest Love Stories That Will Make You Weep Too

8. A Love Story That Will Fill Your Eyes With Tears

One day in 2004, in the town of Zwickau in Germany, a girl named Susann was bored and was channel surfing. When the Eurosport channel came up, broadcasting a weightlifting match, she saw Matthias Steiner, an Austrian weightlifter, and a colossal hulk. Susann immediately fell in love and vowed to track him down. She repeatedly pestered Eurosport commentators for Steiner’s email address till they got fed up.

Susann contacted Matthias via email and agreed to meet in Lower Austria. To Susann’s luck, Matthias too fell in love with her at first sight. They married shortly after that and Matthias moved to Germany and took up German citizenship. Though he wasn’t much known in the weightlifting community, he promised his wife that someday he would bring home an Olympic medal, especially for her.

But on 16 July 2007, Susann got severely injured in a car accident and died untimely. Matthias was inconsolable as he laid his wife to rest in her wedding dress. He was totally broken at the loss of his love and lost a lot of weight.

Real Love Is A Thing That Does Not Die Easily

Matthias nearly gave up his career but then he remembered his promise to her, and through sheer will and hard work, Matthias got selected by Germany to represent them in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. At Beijing, Matthias ran into trouble at the heavyweight weightlifting competition as he failed in two of his three snatch attempts. Viktor Scerbatihs and Evgeny Chigishev threatened to put him in fourth place and end his prospects.

But against all odds, Matthias-with every bit of energy in his body, succeeded to lift 258 kilograms and win the Olympic Gold. As the winners received their hard-earned medals and the Deutschlandlied was played in the stadium, this scene was beamed live to over a billion viewers who were left teary-eyed as well:

He was now a national hero in Germany and his name would be remembered in the history of the Olympics. But weightlifting didn’t matter to Matthias as the only thing that mattered to him was – he had succeeded in what he had promised to his love. That he would bring her an Olympic medal home.

9. A Love Story That Reminds Why Love Is Immortal

I came across this story when it happened but it has left a lasting impact. Just by reading through, you learn so much from the girl and guy about love, strength, and courage. A few days before Christmas, Heather Mosher and David Mosher tied the knot. Initially, the wedding was planned for December 30th, but they had to move it forward. David and Heather met in a swing dance class and fell instantly in love in May 2015.

On December 23, 2016, David decided to propose to Heather. Unfortunately, this was also the day when Heather was diagnosed with breast cancer. “She didn’t know I was going to propose that night, but I said to myself, she needs to know she’s not going to go down this road alone,” David said.

After a horse-drawn carriage ride, David went through with the proposal under a street light. Only three days later, the couple found out that Heather’s cancer was triple-negative. By September 2017, cancer had spread to Heather’s brain, and two months in, she was on the life support system. From the original date, the wedding happened on December 22, 2017, as suggested by the doctors.

Sadly, the last words Heather said were her vows to David, and 18 hours into the marriage, Heather died on December 23, 2017. On December 30, David said his final goodbye to Heather in the church they were meant to marry at her funeral. “She’s my great love, and I’m going to lose her, but I’m not losing her forever,” David said.

14. A Short Love Story To Inspire Every Sincere Lover

This is a short but inspiring love story that will touch everyone’s heart. In my office, there was a boy and a girl who were about to get married about 4 years ago. But a few months before the wedding, the guy met with an accident when he was on his way home from work. It was a brutal accident – the guy is now partially paralyzed and the doctors don’t assure any recovery in near future.

The girl stood by him, she still goes to the hospital with him every day and supports him unconditionally. Her family of course suggested that she move on and get married to someone else. But she refused and defied everyone else to be with the man she loves… Despite all odds.

He is said to recover as much because of her consistent support. She continues to be with him each day… This is a story that touched us all and showed us that true love remains intact regardless of what the situation is!

15. Wonderful Heart-Touching Story: Love For Humanity

An eyewitness account from New York City, on a cold day in December, some years ago: A little boy, about 10 years old, was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold. A lady approached the young boy and said, ‘My boy, you are in such deep thought staring in that window!

‘I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,’ was the boy’s reply. The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.

She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel. By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair on the boy’s feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes.

She tied up the remaining pair of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, ‘No doubt, you will be more comfortable now’. As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes, asked her. ‘Are you God’s wife?’

17. How A Promise Was Fulfilled: An Immortal Love Story

They were on their way back. Car was full of laughter, songs, and fragrances… After all, they were a newly married couple. It was a beautiful romantic song and his singing along had made it all the more beautiful and romantic. Life was unimaginably amazing. He looked at his wonderful wife and his mind drifted back to the time when he would wait for hours by that mountain spring just to get one glimpse of her.

And sometimes all of it went in vain when she didn’t show up at all. They were going. The car was moving smoothly. As night was about to fall, so there were few vehicles on the road. He smiled at his wife and felt a rush of tranquility coursing through his body. He thought of the time when he was posted as a civil engineer to that beautiful valley completely surrounded by high mountains.

He thought of the time when he saw her and madly, insanely fell in love with her. He thought of the time when he went to ask her parents for her hand, and refused and was kicked out of their house. He thought of his sheer disappointment and smiled.

What Was The Condition For Their Marriage

And then, he thought of the time when his wife’s family and all villagers agreed to their marriage, just for one little thing. They asked him to cut the mountains and bring the road encircling the mountain in the village so that the villagers would not die every other day while crossing the mountains to reach the road in order to bring the items of daily need to the village.

The headlights of the car coming from the opposite direction brought him back to the present. He took the bony little hand of his wife and kissed it. She smiled shyly. Her smile reminded him of the hard work, his struggle to cut the mountains and carve that black-grey serpent that would be a bridge between a beautiful little but isolated valley and the dazzling world outside.

Eventually, those big mighty mountains melt beholding the immense love for his beloved. Who says love like that among Shirin and Farhad is nowhere to be seen in this era?? The road was built and the promise was fulfilled. They got married and after spending a few days with his family, now they were heading back to her village.

WAIT!!

And Now They Have Become The Part of History

Were they heading back? Are they in a vehicle or something? Oh and is he driving? Then why the Hell his eyes are closed?? His eyes popped open but there was a lot of shouting around. It took him a moment to realize that it was his wife shouting. But Why??

Too late it was when he saw the gigantic trailer. It was just about to hit them. All he could do was… just hold his wife tightly. Shirin-Farhad were no more. Like the Shirin-Farhad of Persia who became the history from ordinary, for falling in love…

This is the real love story of a couple from Pakistan and you might want to read or look into Sir Mustansar Hussain Tarar’s book “Yak Siraye” OR “یاک سرائے”. And this road is still famous as “Ashiq Road” or “The Road of Lovers”
