1. Very Touching Story of A Son Who Hated His Father

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months, he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study room. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box.

Curious but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, “With all your money you give me a Bible?” and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home, a wonderful family, and a respectable position in society. However, he realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him.

He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father’s house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search his father’s important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.

As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words…

PAID IN FULL.

Moral of The Story: How many times do we miss God’s blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? How many times do we neglect the people who love us the most?…

The problem with most of us is that we humans, most of the time, take things for granted. We never care for our parents’ selfless love, dedication, hard labor, struggle, and more importantly – time until it’s too late.

2. Emotional Story of A Father Who Works Hard For His Family

Father was a hardworking man who delivered bread as a living to support his wife and three children. He spent all his evenings after work attending classes, hoping to improve himself so that he could one day find a better-paying job. Except for Sundays, Father hardly ate a meal together with his family.

He worked and studied very hard because he wanted to provide his family with the best money could buy. Whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them.

But he often yearned to spend more time with his family. The day came when the examination results were announced. To his joy, Father passed, and with distinctions too! Soon after, he was offered a good job as a senior supervisor which paid handsomely.

Like a dream come true, Father could now afford to provide his family with life’s little luxuries like nice clothing, fine food, and vacation abroad. However, the family still did not get to see the father for most of the week.

He continued to work very hard, hoping to be promoted to the position of manager. In fact, to make himself a worthy candidate for the promotion, he enrolled in another course at the open university.

Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.

3. Make Memories Together Before It’s Too Late: A Father’s Story

When I was a little girl, I remember that when my Dad was repairing something, every time he asked me to hold the hammer, just so we would have time for a conversation with each other. I never saw my Dad drinking or taking a night out with the boys, all he did after work was taking care of his family.

I grew up and left home for college and since then, my Dad had been calling me every Sunday morning, no matter what. And when several years later, I bought a house, my Dad painted it by himself for three days in the 60-degree summer heat.

All he asked was to hold his paintbrush and talk to him. But I was too busy in those days, I did not find any time for a conversation with my Dad. Four years ago, my Dad was visiting me. He spent many hours putting together a swing set for my daughter.

He asked me to bring him a cup of tea and have a talk with him, but I had to prepare for a trip that weekend, so I did not have time for any long conversations that day. One Sunday morning we had a telephone talk, as usual.

I noticed that my Dad had forgotten some things that we discussed lately. I was in a hurry, so our conversation was short. A few hours later that day came a call. My father was in a hospital with an aneurysm.

Immediately I bought a ticket for a flight and on my way, I was thinking about all the missed occasions to talk with my Dad. By the time I arrived at the hospital, my father had passed away.

Now it was he who did not have time for a conversation with me. I realized how little I knew about my Dad, his deepest thoughts and dreams. After his death, I learned much more about him, and even more about myself.

All he ever asked me was my time which I could never lend him. And now he has all my attention every single day. Someone has truly said, “You know the value of something only when you lose it.

4. A Useless Life: A Zen Story About An Old Father

A farmer got so old that he couldn’t work the fields anymore. So he would spend the day just sitting on the porch. His son, still working the farm, would look up from time to time and see his father sitting there.

“He’s of no use anymore,” the son thought to himself, “he doesn’t do anything!” One day the son got so frustrated by this, that he built a wood coffin, dragged it over to the porch, and told his father to get in.

Without saying anything, the father climbed inside. After closing the lid, the son dragged the coffin to the edge of the farm where there was a high cliff.

As he approached the drop, he heard a light tapping on the lid from inside the coffin. He opened it up. Still lying there peacefully, the father looked up at his son.

He said, “I know you are going to throw me over the cliff, but before you do, may I suggest something?”

“What is it?” replied the son.

Throw me over the cliff, if you like,” said the father, “but save this good wood coffin. Your children might need to use it.
