1. A Man And A Young Girl: A Touching Mother’s Day Story

A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles away. As he got out of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing. He asked her what was wrong and she replied, “I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother and I don’t have enough money.”

The man smiled and said, “Come on in with me. I’ll buy you a rose.” He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother’s flowers. As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home. She said, “Yes, please! You can take me to my mother.”

She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave. The man was amazed to see the girl’s deep love for her mother. He couldn’t believe that someone could love a dead person so much.

But he was probably forgetting that the deceased was none other than her mother. Mother… who is equated with God in glory. Sometimes he would look at that girl and sometimes at her mother’s grave.

He didn’t say anything further to that girl and sat quietly in his car with moist eyes. He returned to the flower shop again and canceled the wire order.

Then he picked up a bouquet and drove the two hundred miles to his mother’s house.

A widowed blind woman had a son, whom she loved very much. As all mothers wish she also wanted her son to become a highly successful man. That’s why even after being blind and living in dire poverty, she got him admitted to the best school in the town.

To take care of the child’s needs she cooked food and did household chores for the affluent families. The boy was good at studies, but he was always worried about one thing. Other kids in the school used to tease him by calling him ‘Son of the blind woman’.

Time passed and the boy started doing a good job after completing his studies. His job was in the city. He left his mother in the village itself. He promised his mother that he would take her along with him after making arrangements for her stay in the city.

But he did not keep his promise. After going to the city, he did not have any contact with his mother as he always wanted to get rid of her. After some time he got married to a beautiful girl and bought a big house in a prime location in the city.

He was very happy with his wife, kids, and the comforts. For several months the blind woman kept waiting for her son. But when he did not come, one day she reached the city to meet him.

Asking here and there, somehow she reached her son’s house. She hadn’t seen her son in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren. The guard was standing outside. She told the guard that she had to meet his master.

When the guard went inside and told his master, he got the answer – “Go outside and tell her that I am not at home now.” The guard did the same as his master commanded.

But mother wanted to see a glimpse of her only child at any cost so she didn’t go anywhere and waited for him by sitting near the gate. When her son saw his mother at the gate, he got very irritated.

He came out of the house and screamed at her, “How dare you come to my house! Get out of here! Now!!!”

The blind mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so sorry, Son. I may have gotten the wrong address.” – and she disappeared out of sight with tear-filled eyes.

What Old Mother Had Written In The Letter

After some time the boy left in his car to go to the office. On the way, he saw that there was a crowd at one place. When he got out of the car to find the reason for the crowd, he found his old mother dead in the middle of the way.

There was something in the fist of his mother’s corpse. On opening her fist, he saw that there was a letter in it. He opened the letter and started reading:

My Dearest Son,

I think of you all the time. I am very happy that you have become a highly successful man. I’m sorry that I came to your house and disturbed you. I’m also sorry for the constant embarrassment you experienced when you were growing up.

Please, forgive me for all this. I wanted to meet you, so came to the city. What should I do, I miss you a lot. For years, I wanted to see you become a successful man one day. My long-awaited dream has come true, but I cannot see you.

I wish that incident had not happened to you in your childhood. When you were very little, you met with an accident and lost your eyes. As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching my only son having to grow up like a blind person.

So I gave you mine. Had I not given you my eyes, then today I would have been able to see you in this position. I am so proud of you my son as you are seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with my eyes.

I want to tell you more but you know that I cannot read or write because I’m blind. A gentleman has written this letter for me on my repeated requests… I wish I could tell you how much I love you, my son.

After reading the letter, the boy started crying bitterly. He was filled with self-loathing. Because his mother was blind so he had shunned her, but actually, she had sacrificed her own eyes for him. He could never forgive himself.

Moral of The Story: Friends, the love of parents is limitless. This is that precious love, which has no value. They sacrifice everything for our happiness. We should always respect and love them. Never ever forget your mom who risked her life to bring you into this world.
